Special Announcement
Exciting News! We Plan Transition & Expansion
From Elizabeth Markovich, Integrative Healthcare
Dear Valued Patients,
23 years ago, my husband Martin and I founded Integrative Healthcare (IHC). IHC has been serving Tallahassee and surrounding areas to provide holistic primary care ever since. Over the years, I completed the IFM-CP (Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner) program and the DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) degree to provide better care using a Functional Medicine model. For the last few years, our hope has been to expand and provide more services for patients, even as I adopt a more flexible schedule.
I was fortunate to have Ali Craig-Rodriguez, a DNP Family Nurse Practitioner, join our practice part time in 2017 as a practice Associate. This has not only helped us to grow the practice, but it has added another perspective. Ali trained in SAFM (School for Applied Functional Medicine) and is certified by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She recently started a Certification program at FSU College of Nursing.
FSU College of Nursing has been planning a community nurse-led clinic. Through Ali, FSU began to consider acquiring IHC for this project. This clinic will provide primary care, lifestyle medicine and other services. It will provide clinical training, primarily to FSU Graduate Nursing students.
IHC could become the cornerstone of the College of Nursing clinic. The expanded clinic would likely expand our services. Meetings with the FSU College of Nursing leadership team have been positive. We are in negotiations, and we are optimistic that this exciting change will take place. It would enable our clinic to expand and operate for many years to come. Even though we are optimistic about this plan, we are working on some other possible strategies, in case it doesn’t go through.
What we know with some certainty:
I (Elizabeth) will continue to work seeing my patients, providing ongoing Functional Medicine-related care as our patients have come to appreciate.
Ali Craig-Rodriguez will continue to work her existing schedule, provide ongoing care to her patients in the areas of hormone balancing, Lifestyle, and Functional Medicine. In the near future, she may be able expand her schedule at the clinic to accommodate more patients.
An FSU College of Nursing health care clinic would fit in with the College’s primary missions of research and teaching. It would also fit in with the health care tradition of combining practical applications with academic advances.
The health care clinic will be led by Nurse Practitioner faculty (including myself). Faculty and graduate students will help provide care.
As more resources are provided to the clinic, more services will be available in the areas of urgent care, counseling and mental health care.
The transfer of office administration would occur over a period of months. The College has an interest in maintaining the relationship with all current patients.
We hope you are as excited as we are with this opportunity to expand our services, and we look forward to maintaining the standard of care that has helped thousands of patients.
We will keep you apprised of all developments. Please let us know if you have any questions. Martin and I are happy to talk to any concerned patient.
All the Best,
Elizabeth Markovich, DNP
